Manchester Champ show is a very busy and noisy show so we really threw the pups in at the deep end! It was really good to get all of us out again though and catch up with friends. The pups were excited to see everyone and though initially a little overwhelmed by the noise and confusion, they quickly settled onto their benches whilst we prepared for our turn in the ring. Obi was a little enthusiastic but did get himself together to gain 1st Junior Dog. Then it was over to the girls to see how they got on. It was a big class (for Smooths) of six puppy bitches, Hope behaved very well, being super attentive to Elaine and only having a little moment on the move where she wanted to play. Although she was unplaced, we are all super happy with how she did and look forward to seeing what the future holds for her.
Ása, well she was herself predictably enough, super confident, so self-assured and so naughty, Deb certainly had her hands full! She handled her well and managed to get her to stay still and move (when asked) well enough to gain her second place in the class. Time for some serious training I think Ása!
Winner of the puppy bitch class was Andrea’s Edna – she is a daughter of Dolly (Koczkodan Sweet Dreams of Lizoni) and she went on to win best puppy in breed beating the best puppy dog Wally (son of Ripley – Koczkodan Nostromo). So it was a good day all round.
The following weekend we were at Lichfield Open Show, where Hope won Best Puppy in Breed (so pleased with her) and Andrea’s Dolly (daughter of Clara) was Best of Breed. Dilys was also 3rd in a huge AV Veteran Class and thoroughly enjoyed herself.
